I remember as a little girl, I could not wait to be the big 13! The magic number; a teenager! All grown up!
Then when I was 13, I could not wait to be the big 16! The magic number; a driver! All grown up!
Then when I was 16, I could not wait to be the big 18! The magic number; an adult! All grown up! No one could tell me what to do anymore!
Then when I was 18, I could not wait to be the big 21! The magic number; legal drinking age! All grown up!
Then when I was 21, I knew everything!
Well now, as I quickly approach 41, I have come to realize a couple things. First and most importantly, cherish each and every blessed moment, because time flies! Instead of wishing my life away, enjoy it! Live it to the fullest.....
Which reminds me of a song by Trace Adkins, "Your Gonna Miss This".....
Each and everytime I hear this song it reminds me of those wishes I made. When I was 17 and Dad said you better be home by 10 pm or else.....I remember wishing I was 18!
Or when I was 18 and Dad still said, you better be home by 11 pm or else....I remember wishing I lived somewhere else.....
Now at 40 something, as I spend 3 hours driving home from Mom and Dad's I wish we lived closer together. It's funny how the wishes change.... I continually stress to my daughter as my parents did me, enjoy these years! You are only young once! Don't wish your life away....
Oh my gosh, I have become my Mother! How awesome is that!!!
So while I sit here thinking about the past 40 years, I also look forward to the next 40 years.
